Where did it all start

Where did the idea for Hatley Engineering start?

It was born out of a great relationship with my father, mother and their friends who were teachers and instructors in various industrial trades.  I grew up knowing a great carpenter, mechanic, welder, civil, electrical and instrumentation, heavy machinery, and maintenance people who were all mentors and leaders in their community.

The idea formed as a child at a drafting table, while watching my father Fred Hatley and co-author Ken Cannon, write their textbook in Building Construction Technology in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.  Their passion for learning and instructing led to decades of learning for many young adults at the high school, trade school, and university level.  This continued with my own partnerships with Dr. Rashid Bashir, Dr. Theo Yameogo, and many others to write technical papers in challenging mining environments and would assist others in similar journey and lecture at the University of Saskatchewan.
